VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The ASEAN Foundation was established in 1997 by the ASEAN Foreign Ministers in fulfilment of a decision made earlier by the ASEAN Heads of Government to create a non-profit intergovernmental organisation based in Jakarta, Indonesia with the aim of raising public awareness about ASEAN and to contribute to progress of the Southeast Asian region by addressing poverty and other socio-economic disparity issues. The Foundation is now recruiting an Executive Director with the following requirements.

Function:-

The Executive Director shall represent the Foundation in all administrative and operational matters, including managing its activities, initiating plans and programmes, appointing and supervising the staff members, raising funds and performing any other functions and responsibilities entrusted to him/her by the Board of Trustees.

Qualifications:-

The Executive Director shall be a national of an ASEAN Member State and should have a degree in an appropriate discipline; 15 years of professional experience, at least 10 of which have been at a senior level; proven skills in leadership, administration, executive management, marketing and/or strategic planning; knowledge of the necessary and relevant background on ASEAN and in diplomatic practices; fluency in English; and with experience in fund-raising and/or management.

It would also be very helpful for the Executive Director to have an established and good working relationship with governments of ASEAN member and non-member countries, international and regional bodies, aid agencies, relevant non-governmental organizations, senior management in private sector corporations, and influential people in various foundations and civil society organizations especially within the Southeast Asia region.

Remuneration Package:-

The successful candidate will be offered a monthly salary of US$ 6,000. Other benefits and allowances include housing, medical, electricity and education for maximum of two dependent children at secondary level and below. The post will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia for a non-renewable term of three years starting from 2008.
