OUR PROJECTS
Priority Areas
Considering
the mission of ASEAN, the mandate of the ASEAN Foundation within
that mission, the priorities in the Hanoi Plan of Actions, as
well as the situational assessment of the Southeast Asian region,
the ASEAN Foundation has adopted the following priority areas
as the objectives of its Plan of Action:

Promotion of ASEAN Awareness |

To
make a significant contribution to the promotion of an awareness
as well as a positive image of ASEAN among publics within
the region as well as selected international publics. |
| b) |
Promotion of Cooperation among the Peoples of ASEAN and their |
|
Greater Participation in ASEAN Activities, and the Reinforcement |
|
of ASEAN Solidarity |
|
To
help bring about an intensification and broadening of co-operative
activities among the governments and peoples of ASEAN in
all areas but with emphasise on Functional Cooperation. |
| c) |
Enhancement of Cooperation in Addressing Issues of Poverty |
|
Reduction and other Socio-Economic Disparities |
|
To help bring about a better life to people in the rural areas of the region and advance the war against poverty. |
| d) |
Financial Stability and Organisation Development |
|
To
increase and enhance the capability of the ASEAN Foundation
to plan, fund, implement, supervise and evaluate projects
within its mandate. |
Major Programmes and Activities
In view of its mandate as ASEAN’s instrument to promote
broad-based participation in ASEAN Functional Cooperation, the
realities in the region today, and its present capabilities, the
ASEAN Foundation has decided to concentrate its programme on human
resources development on four major programme areas:
Geographically,
special attention will be given to the newer member countries,
i.e. Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam (CLMV), as well as BIMP
EAGA (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines East ASEAN Growth
Area).
