The ASEAN Digital Empowerment (ADE) programme, launched by the ASEAN Foundation in partnership with SAP in 2022, aimed to bridge the digital divide by equipping disadvantaged and unemployed youth across ASEAN with in-demand digital skills. Targeting young people aged 18 to 30, the programme offered free access to the SAP Learning Hub, where participants could explore a wide range of career-relevant topics, from data science and software development to business model innovation, design thinking, and human experience management. Learning was supported by over 150 certification exams in nine languages, catering to different skill levels.
To boost career prospects, SAP collaborated with major global companies such as Google, IBM, HP, and WTA, giving participants access to industry insights, job opportunities, and internships. Participants were also guided by SAP mentors and worked alongside peers, gaining both knowledge and confidence to enter the digital workforce.
By the time the programme concluded in 2023, 250 underserved youth from across ASEAN had completed the training, with many earning SAP certifications and strengthening their job-readiness. The ADE programme left a lasting impact by empowering young people with the tools, confidence, and connections needed to succeed in a fast-evolving digital economy.
