The ASEAN Cybersecurity Skilling Programme (ASEAN CSP) was a collaborative initiative between the ASEAN Foundation and Microsoft, launched in 2022 to boost cybersecurity awareness and digital resilience across the region. With cyber threats on the rise, the programme focused on equipping people with the knowledge and tools needed to protect themselves and their communities online.
ASEAN CSP featured three core components: a baseline study including surveys, focus groups, and expert roundtables to map current cybersecurity challenges; 14 Training-of-Trainers workshops that equipped 560 individuals with Microsoft-supported teaching toolkits; and cascading community training sessions, both online and offline, led by trained educators. These localised sessions were made accessible through an inclusive, multilingual digital platform designed to reach diverse audiences.
By the time the programme concluded in 2023, ASEAN CSP had empowered over 30,000 individuals—including educators, youth, government staff, and non-profit trainers—with critical cybersecurity skills. The initiative played a vital role in building a digitally secure and informed ASEAN community, strengthening regional resilience against the growing risks of cybercrime.
